Steamboat Springs Orchestra is the only resident symphony in any major resort town in America. SSO's regular concert season runs early Fall through early Spring. Most concerts are held at the Steamboat Christian Center, which has outstanding acoustics and in which the orchestra is dramatically framed by picture window views of Mt. Werner. Two concerts each season are performed in Craig at the MCHS Auditorium. Each concert features engaging talks by SSO's popular music director/conductor, Ernest Richardson.

PRESS RELEASE:
Steamboat Springs Orchestra Gives the Gift of Music to the Community
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO (March 19, 2009)

In the midst of this economic downturn, the members of the Steamboat Springs Orchestra, have stepped up to the plate and decided that the show must go on. Facing an economic crunch at the end of this season of extraordinary concerts, the orchestra members volunteered to play without pay for the sake of bringing this season finale to the community. Working without compensation through several intense rehearsals, SSO’s musicians promise that this Sunday, April 5, concert will be special. Presenting a full orchestra for the performance of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, the musicians will join their talents in a 3 pm concert to benefit SSO. Believing in the power of music to lift spirits and change lives, these musicians are giving this gift of music to our community. “Our musicians believe in the power of music,” says board member Bonnie McGee. “On April 5, they’ll be playing from their hearts.” Tickets are available at All That Jazz, Off the Beaten Path, at the Orchestra Office or online at steamboatorchestra.org.
