Strength in Leadership

Barbara Winternitz

Lara Craig

She received a piano scholarship to Baylor University, but ended up studying French and English instead. After teaching middle and high school choir for a year, Lara went on to teach French and currently teaches English and history at Steamboat Springs Middle School. Lara has raised her family with music and continues to be dedicated to encouraging the arts and music for youth and supporting the community orchestra in Steamboat Springs.

Susan Petersen

Board Member Steamboat Springs Orchestra – Susan joined the SSO board in the fall of 2017. With her background in programming and events from her two decades serving as the Recreation Manager for the City of Steamboat, Susan’s perspective is invaluable to the Orchestra.  She enjoys sharing orchestral music with the community she has lived in since 1989 and the challenge of developing the SSO to become a sustainable organization that lives on in the hearts of music lovers for decades to come.

Danielle Skov

Board Member Steamboat Springs Orchestra – In her role as a teacher as Soda Creek Elementary School in Steamboat Springs, Danielle has worked to strengthen the connection between the local schools and the SSO. As part of that effort, each year she brings a group of students to the Christmas concert that would not otherwise be able to attend. All three of Danielle’s children have studied music in the Suzuki Method and her youngest daughter is currently enrolled in the high school orchestra class, which is supported in part by the SSO.

Mary Jo Wiedel

Board Member Steamboat Springs Orchestra – Mary Jo was introduced to the SSO just two years ago and was immediately hooked on the inspiration she felt from the music and on the historical stories which Ernest Richardson, Musical Director brings to each performance. Mary Jo is thrilled to support the SSO as a board member, so she can ensure the music and stories will continue to be enjoyed by everyone in the Steamboat community.

Jennifer Lee Robinson – Executive Director

Jennifer, who joined the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra in August 2019, brings a fresh perspective and entrepreneurial spirit to the diverse requirements of the role and is excited to help develop the symphony’s innovative programming and outreach. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree in vocal performance and choral conducting from the University of New Mexico.
